Description
Piccolo Xpress chemistry analyzer system is Compact, lightweight, easy to use, and can be easily integrated into daily laboratory practice anywhere. The fully automatic analysis device determines all important parameters in 3 simple steps and delivers results in the shortest possible time – anywhere, without a laboratory. No sending of samples and no long waiting times: the attending doctor immediately receives the clinical-chemical values required for the diagnosis – this saves time and optimizes the treatment concept for the patient.
With the Abaxis Piccolo Xpress, laboratories can perform routine chemistry using 0.1cc of whole blood, serum, or plasma. The system uses patented reagent disc technology that allows a lab to perform up to 15 chemistry tests simultaneously using standard laboratory reference methods.
The Piccolo Xpress’ small footprint and low cost make it an ideal solution for small hospital laboratories as a front-line analyzer or as a cost-effective backup to the main system in all hospitals.
Pipette the patient sample into the disc, insert the disc into the analyzer, and the results are printed or transferred to a LIS in about 12 minutes. No operator intervention is required.
The Piccolo Xpress employs on-board continuous intelligent Quality Control (iQC) to monitor the analyzer, reagent reactions, and sample to ensure the highest quality and accuracy in results.
Why Use the Piccolo Xpress chemistry analyzer?
- Easy handling – 3 steps from the sample to the result
- Maximum efficiency due to short waiting time – results in approx. 12 minutes
- Only approx. 100 µL sample (serum, plasma, or lithium heparin whole blood)
- Without external sample preparation – suitable for immediate diagnostics close to the patient
- Precision and accuracy comparable to laboratory-quality large-scale analysis systems
- The reagent disk can be cooled and used immediately
- Integrated QC and automatic detection of icteric, hemolytic, and lipemic samples
- Barcoded disc with calibration information, expiry date, and batch
Features of the Abaxis Piccolo Xpress Clinical Chemistry Analyzer:
- The Piccolo Xpress is a compact, portable clinical chemistry system for on-site patient testing. Roughly the shoebox size, health care providers use the easy-to-follow color touch screen commands to perform routine multi-chemistry panels.
- 0.1cc of whole blood, serum, or plasma is added directly to the patented 8-cm diameter single-use plastic disc containing the liquid diluent and dry reagents. The disc is placed in the analyzer drawer, where centrifugal and capillary forces are used to mix the reagents and sample in the disc. The Piccolo Xpress monitors the reagent reactions simultaneously using nine wavelengths, calculates the results from the absorbance data, and reports the results.
- The Piccolo Xpress self-calibrates with each run, and the onboard continuous intelligent Quality Control (iQCT) monitors the analyzer, reagent reactions, and sample to ensure chemistry and instrument integrity. This assures you the highest quality and accuracy in results.
- Results are ready in approximately 12 minutes with a “hard copy” report suitable for the patient file or transferred to a computer, printer or a LIS/EMR. This enables you to obtain critical diagnostic information at the point of care rapidly.
- The easy-to-use, low-maintenance system requires no special training to operate.
Three simple steps using Piccolo Xpress – Load sample, insert a disc and read results.
The Piccolo Xpress chemistry analyzer allows healthcare practitioners to perform routine multi-chemistry panels using 0.1cc of whole blood, serum, or plasma. That’s only 3 – 4 drops. The system uses patented single-use reagent discs containing up to 14 chemistry tests.
Step 1: Add Sample
Step 2: Insert Disc
