Description
The HACH DR3900 Laboratory VIS Spectrophotometer is an instrument designed by HACH Company for water analysis in laboratories. This device measures the intensity of light in the visible spectrum (VIS) after it passes through a sample. Based on this measurement, the concentration of specific substances in the sample can be determined.
Some key features and concepts related to the HACH DR3900 spectrophotometer include:
- RFID Technology: One of the standout features of the HACH DR3900 is its integration with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. RFID allows for easy tracking and tracing of samples, methods, and even quality control measures. With RFID, users can obtain more data about their samples and methods without manual entry, reducing the possibility of errors.
- Guided Procedure: The spectrophotometer is designed to guide the user through the test process, which ensures consistent procedures and accurate results.
- LNT (Liquid Nephelometric Technology): This technology improves accuracy by detecting potential errors that could be caused by factors like air bubbles or scratches on cuvettes.
- Wide Range of Pre-programmed Methods: The instrument comes preloaded with a wide array of test methods, which means users can test for a wide variety of parameters without having to manually input methods.
- Compatibility: It’s compatible with TNTplus chemistries, which is Hach’s advanced range of reagent vials. These vials allow for barcode recognition and provide automatic method detection, making the testing process more streamlined and less prone to human error.
- Connectivity: Modern versions of such devices often come with options for connecting to software, databases, or systems, allowing for easy data transfer and management.
Water analysis, especially in sensitive applications like drinking water supply or wastewater treatment, requires accurate and reliable data. Instruments like the HACH DR3900 provide laboratories with the tools they need to ensure the quality and safety of water.
Benefits
Simple Preparation
TNTplus® vials use Dosicaps – freeze-dried reagents integrated into sealed cap – that are easier to use than Powder Pillows or Liquid Reagents, without any risk of contamination. The boxes and vials are color-coded for a fast and easy parameter and range recognition of exactly the test you need. Step-by-step illustrated test methods are printed on the box as a quick reference and can also be called up in the instrument menu.
Comprehensive Documentation
Measurement results are documented on the detailed level with timestamp, operator ID, absorbance reading, and calculated concentration. The 2D barcode delivers the lot number and expiry date, logged with every result. For your accreditation the certificate of analysis can be called up just by wiping the reagent box towards the RFID* sensor. *RFID technology currently available only in US, and certain other countries. Check the datasheet for country availability.
Fast Execution
A 2D barcode on the TNTplus vial is automatically read by the Hach DR spectrophotometer to identify the appropriate method and take the measurement. The vial spins to take 10-fold absorbance readings that will be averaged for result determination to exclude scratches and fingerprints. Instrument calibration verification and high instrument stability all combine to eliminate the need to run reagent blanks.
Customizable
With the ability to store hundreds of user-determined methods, operators are able to tailor the DR3900 to meet the everyday needs of the plant. Being able to optimize and customize the method portfolio, combined with regular software updates and Claros™ connectivity, makes the DR3900 the ultimate solution to water quality lab needs.
